THIS INFERNAL MACHINE

Put The Bunny Back In The Box…

I feel like if you have been reading this blog site consistently over the last year, there wouldn’t be much to update on. But for those of you just joining us, I would first and foremost like to extend to you our deepest gratitude for your interest in this little thing we’re trying to do. It’s been an interesting year trying to get this band up and running. Earlier in 2009, I was in this band with three completely different people. I find it quite amazing how fast things can change and where life takes people in the span of a year. As September of ‘09 crept up, so did the latest line up change. It meant a few things. It meant that this band had finally found all of the members it needed to fully function. Unfortunately for those listeners who were anticipating some tunes from us, it also meant that we had to start over with learning and practicing these songs with a new member. The creativity continued with a fresh set of ears. I must be honest, dear reader. I am truly thankful for that relearning period because in that time, newer songs were created. Songs that, along with the tracks that are making the album, we’re all incredibly stoked for.

To take on the task of making an album on our own with no financial backing from a label is not an easy thing to accomplish. I can tell you there is so much more going into this album than anything I have ever released in the past. So many things to consider. Rather than going over those details, I will say that regardless of how much more time and energy is going into this album, it’s the most excited I have ever been about releasing music EVER. We all believe we are doing something special here. I can’t tell you how giddy I get when I talk to Sean about drum sounds or with Brady about what we can get his bass to sound like on certain songs or geeking out on Nate about the sick guitar tones I’ve been figuring out for this album.

We’re so grateful to be able to make this album. And to do it this way on our own, the only collaborative help of which comes solely from our friends, makes the whole experience that much better. I whole heartedly believe that if nothing ever comes of this band and we eventually fizzle and fade (trust me, we’re not going anywhere anytime soon), I feel like this album will be something I will always hold dear to my heart and it’s something I will always be so proud of.

One of our other big objectives is finally getting to play for you guys. It’s been almost a year since the creation of this band. A lot of unfortunate set backs led to that but we all are in agreement that 2010 is the year THIS INFERNAL MACHINE makes contact. I can’t tell where we plan on going just yet but the idea, as with most up and coming bands, is to spread the word locally first and start making our way further and further away from home to those of you who don’t live in the northwest. It’s going to be a long road ahead and we can’t determine what will happen in another year. I believe the only thing we can do at this point is enjoy the ride and continue to do our best in bringing the art of music to everyone’s ears.

Please, won’t you join us?

-Cory

PS - Here is our latest video blog. I’m hoping the next one will at least introduce you to the places we’ll be making this album. We deifnitely want to document the recording process as much as we can so be expecting random videos along with video blogs and random photos on twitter.
